Astrology shit!!

Astrology- a science that predict's your future! Being a part of indian family, believe me its more of pain in the ass. There are few traditions in our culture i despise but this is the one which i hate from bottom of my heart. We have enough superstitions we gotta deal with.. and parents come up with a new one every time. We go to a astrologer to see if the couple planning to get married is compatible,we go to a astrologer to see if your cancer or aids will ever get cured, 'ohh you not having a baby, lets visit an astrologer'!
It doesn't end there. They charge a huge deal from you, make you do non sense rituals for which again you shell out stacks of money and still nothing right happens. It makes my blood boil to see people yet not learning anything from it!
The thing is i don't get the point in knowing what's gonna happen ahead. If its bad news, you sit and worry throughout to eventually spoil the good you have in present. I mean whose life isn't screwed? Tell me one person on earth who has never had ups and downs, who had never fallen on face to ground. Its impossible. We are humans. Since we are one,we are 'born' to face problems. We are born to suffer. We are born to get hurt. But that's the beauty of life. The beauty is still dusting your self up and standing saying 'its ok am alright'. The beauty is in getting hurt and still believing in opportunities. The beauty is in accepting the wrongs and downs that come your way. This is something which makes us a superhuman. Its something we need to be proud of.
And for all the astrologers, let people live their life. Half the times you people are fake, ready to cash in on people's worries and people please we can't control life and death. But we can believe in faith, knowledge, friends, opportunities. We get to choose our decisions. We get chances to mend our mistakes. We get to follow our heart. Stop worrying what's gonna happen. Find yourself satisfied with your present cause no matter what astrology predicts, your life is what you make from it. Be happy. Be content. No one's life is perfect. It just can't be!!

  6. Matching horoscopes is a pain to say the least...but sometimes its best to give in to something that our parents believe in, just for the sake of their happiness.

  7. Interesting…
Maybe extending this theory a little further, it can be same with prayers too ha?
After all, at the end of the day, what happens after doing all prayers? Some psychological relief for the believers, isn’t it the same with those believing in palmistry or astrology?
Let one’s faith be the guiding light :P

  10. Agree with you. Why even worry about anything when there are these people walking amongst us who already know what will be successful and what will fail. It is kind of weird.
Their predictions come out correct in some cases because there are a limited number of future variables and logic dictates that in any given set of circumstances there is a probability that a guess will be correct. And that's a coincidence!

  11. Hi Sneha

Well Said. Yes one needs to be content and happy.

I kind of believe in astrology as an ancient science but I do not believe the astrologers of today. No two of them can have a common opinion these days.

Also, people go to them not just to know what happen but to do some rituals which they believe will make fate turn in their favor!! And problems come when they overdo it.

When it comes to match making specifically arranged marriages, horoscope matching is just a way to filter the prospective bride or grooms and to select one. Marriage is a risk and arranged marriages a big risk. So to parents, horoscope matching is a sort of Risk Prevention mechanism :D

  12. @shiju... exactlyy... out of your 10 predictions one will obv come true... n then the astrologer becomes god!!
@jaish.... totally agree.. arrange marriage is like gambling.. and i can still you give you so many eg of marriages screwed up even after match making.. they tell you "aap iss exam mein pass ho jayoge" you take it for granted its written in fate and don't work for it.. eventually failing and cursing yourself!!

  13. Finally!A sane rational gal who sees astrology for what it is-meaningless trash which somehow stubbornly refuses to go to the garbage dump of human culture!!!!:-D

  14. I hate that too. I'd accompanied my friend to a famous astrologer few year back, because her dad felt it was a kink in her horoscope that made her fail in a subject. There it was more like a hypnosis session where he tried all possible methods to extract details from my friend and repeated those things to gain our confidence. We had a fun time with him and I'm sure he'll remember us for everything that happened that day.

  15. @leo... dude believe me predictions never come true.. and you get to hear right from 'you will get divorced to you will not get a higher degree because of this 'baadhaa' and that 'shraap'!

  16. I agree with you in general...but there a few genuine astrologers who do make accurate predictions...but i believe that u can't just take every life problem to an astrologer and expect miracles and also blind faith is utter foolishness...i feel it is an art and extremely few are genuine...but then it takes only one rotten apple to spoil the entire basket of apples

  17. Faith either comes from belief or fear... And in a country like ours, people fear for their future.. No doubt that most of the fears will be baseless, more so they hamper our present as said by you. Probably, that is one emotion that drives our life...
